Beaver wants to raise chinchillas and begins building a cage in the garage. However, when Beaver changes his mind, Ward tries his best to get Wally and Beaver to clean up the mess. Things get worse when Ward unknowingly runs over some of the wood and nails left laying around with the car, causing the boys to try to patch a flat tire before Ward finds out.

Elly starts liking the vet, but Granny, still thinking he is the seal, wants them apart. She sees the real vet in the car with Miss Jane, and wishes he was with Elly.

Besides the thousand he has for that, he also has two hundred big ones, since the bills are bigger than the ones Jed has. Drysdale is told Shorty's “big” money makes Jed's look like nothing. Drysdale thinks Shorty has $200 million and is desperate to get his money in the bank. He promises Shorty a wild Hollywood party if he deposits the money. Drysdale comes through with the "orgy," and Shorty decides to put his money in the bank.

Later, a furious George shows up at the Bunker's front door claiming the bill Archie passed to him was counterfeit. This leads to two separate arguments: one between Archie and George and the other between Edith and Louise. Louise and Edith quickly make up and soon put a plan into motion that would clear up the entire mess between George and Archie.

Mike's graduation day is coming up fast and Mike is a nervous wreck as he studies for his exams. However, as Mike's test results come in, Archie's in for a shock as Mike is offered a fellowship to get his masters degree thus, the Stivics are going to live for one more year with the Bunkers.
