While en route to death row after being falsely convicted of his wife's murder, fate gives Dr. Richard Kimble (David Janssen) an unexpected chance at vindication when his train derails. On the lam, living in lonely desperation, Kimble embarks on a cross-country search for the real killer, a "one-armed man," while at the same time dodging authorities hot on his trail, notably the obsessed Lieutenant Philip Gerard (Barry Morse).
