Is this Richard Deacon in Leave It to Beaver or The Dick Van Dyke Show?

Is Deacon playing the role of Mr. Rutherford or Mr. Cooley in these images?

It wasn't a surprise to see Richard Deacon in several sitcoms in the late Fifties and throughout the Sixties. From appearing in My Three Sons to an episode of The Love Boat in 1982, Deacon was a welcomed character actor to any show he was featured in.

Often remembered for his recurring roles in classic TV, Deacon's deep voice and glasses made him stand out once he made a name for himself.

Leave It to Beaver and The Dick Van Dyke Show are arguably the two series he's remembered best from, playing roles of a pompous co-worker in one, and a TV producer in the other. With 105 out of his 185 actor credits belonging to just those two shows alone, most of his screen time came as Fred Rutherford or Mel Cooley.

He was also on several Beverly hillbillies episodes.

One of the funniest episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show, is the episode where Mel Cooley finally gets fired by the Allan Brady Show. (The running joke was the nepotism as Mel was related to Brady by marriage and couldn't be fired.)

One of the funniest episodes was when the Cleavers and Rutherfords went on a picnic and Fred had Violet sit on Beaver's lap in the car. Then Fred got her to kiss Beaver when he took their picture. Overall one of the funniest episodes all the way through.

He feared that of he came out it would kill his career. However his peers that knew he was were very supportive.

10/10 I'm an avid watcher of Leave it to Beaver plus the different glasses gave it away for most of the answers.

The image of each person he was speaking to was reflected in his bald forehead.

It was very easy. Richard Deacon was perfectly cast as Fred Rutheford and Mel Cooley.

Richard Deacon was in a Twilight Zone episode. He sort of played a disagreeable person.
