In the 1970s, everyone could see themselves being friends with Mary Richards on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. She hosted the best dinner parties, gave great advice and seemed like someone who would truly value your friendship.
We all wanted to be pals with Mary, but did any of us want to be Mary? Well, now might be your chance to turn that dream into a reality.
The Victorian home used for exterior shots on The Mary Tyler Moore Show is up for sale, and the seller recently reduced its price.
Of course, the inside looks nothing like the apartments occupied by Mary, Rhoda Morgenstern and Phyllis Lindstrom. Instead of three apartments under the same roof, this home has nine bedrooms and seven bathrooms.
The property can be yours for about $1.7 million. That's a lot of money, but it's also a huge drop from the original asking price. When the home first hit the market in 2012, it was listed for $2.9 million.
The price reduction could be due to the facade's fame among classic TV fans. Ever since the show debuted, fans have flocked to the property to catch a glimpse of Mary. Some tour buses even drive past the home to point out its connection to the groundbreaking sitcom.
In the 1970s, at the height of the show's fame, the owners placed an "Impeach Nixon" sign in the front window to deter any photographs.
