The ultimate Batclimb cameo list

Of these 13 guest appearances in Batman, which is your favorite?

In his relentless pursuit of justice, Batman often ended up climbing up the side of a building. When the Caped Crusader and his young ward Robin reached a window, inevitably, someone famous would poke his (or, one time, her) head out to say hello.

Here, for posterity, is every one of those Batclimb cameos. Let us know which one is your favorite in the comments section below!

1. Dick Clark

Wait, if he's here, then who's hosting American Bandstand?!

2. Green Hornet and Kato

Who would win in a fight, Bruce Lee or Batman?

3. Lurch

Ted Cassidy brings his Addams Family to Gotham. They were on the same network!

4. Sammy Davis Jr.

That's right... Sammy didn't only have a great cameo on All in The Family!

5. Santa Claus

"If you can't trust Santa, who can you trust?"

6. Bill Dana

Here's comedian Bill Dana as his character José Jiménez!

7. Jerry Lewis

"Hello, nice Batman?!"

8. Howard Duff

Network synergy! Here's Detective Howard Duff as Sam Stone from Felony Squad.

9. Don Ho

The "Tiny Bubbles" singer appeared in "The Bat's Kow Tow."

10. Art Linkletter

The Kids Say the Darndest Things host cameos in “Catwoman Goes to College.”

11. Edward G. Robinson

Robinson was on the lot doing makeup tests for Planet of the Apes

12. Aileen Mehle

Mehle was famous under the pen name Suzy Knickerbocker, a long-running gossip columnist.

13. The Carpet King

Not a villain, just a real-life carpet salesman named Cyril Lord!

Not only network synergy in the case of Howard Duff, but studio synergy as well...20th Century-Fox Television produced both Batman and Felony Squad.

And Duff does the cameo in his character of Sgt. Sam Stone. After he chats with Batman, he calls out to his partner, Jim Briggs (played by Dennis Cole, who doesn't appear in the window cameo).

Lurch was the BEST. Trivia: click here if you want to see Teri Garr as one of the dancers on 1960s Shindig when Ted Cassidy did 'The Lurch'. She's the blonde on the immediate left (Lurch's right). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCAUY_ewptw

I'm familiar with all of the cameo guests, except for Aileen Mehle and Cyril Lord. This article finally explained who they were. Thanks, MeTV!

14. 𝙒𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙧 𝙆𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙧, "𝙄𝙩'𝙨 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙖𝙢𝙚"

Yes, how could they leave Col Klink out? I never even heard of a couple of the characters who did make the list.
how it all went down lol

They should have had one of the show's perennial guest-villains actors, say Julie Newmar, do a cameo like that. Robin: "Holy familiarity, Batman!"

Lurch was my favorite, but then again I am also an Addams Family fan.

Why no Crazy Eddie? He's insane!
Gossemer harlow1313 2 months ago
LOL wow a name lost to time!. Turns out the whole store was crooked. Go figure. I bought lots of stuff there
Maybe they should have based an episode on Crazy Eddie.

Being a resident of Oregon at the time Crazy Eddie was popular, I only knew who he was thanks to TV specials honoring great commercials, plus one of his ads appeared in the movie "Splash", the part where Madison the Mermaid learns to speak English by watching TV in an electronics store.
I was also west of the Mississippi at the time, so we had "Fred Rated" from the Federated chain, played by future Hollywood Squares announcer Shadoe Stevens (also before his movie "Traxx" and his role as Harry Anderson's sidekick on the sitcom "Dave's World").

One weekend I stubbed my toe really badly before getting dressed and doing a full day of shopping, including a visit to Federated; got home and took off my shoes to soak the foot and discovered I'd broken a toe. Whole foot was purple and I'd been walking around on it for hours.

I think I bought a telephone answering machine that afternoon.

That's Andy Devine as Santa Claus. I recognize his voice. He appeared on a few episodes of Flipper.

It would have been cool if Harold Lloyd had done of these cameos.

Ha, he'd be outside the building, hanging off the window...

He sure would!

Fun Fact: 8 would come back as a Batman villian! 11 didn't do POTA because he hated the makeup! Bonus Question: What Batman villian took his role as Dr. Zaus?
BrittReid cperrynaples 2 months ago
The Puzzler was also Doctor Zaius
cperrynaples BrittReid 2 months ago
Yes, and Maurice Evans is best remembered as Samantha's father on Bewitched!
daDoctah cperrynaples 2 months ago
The only actor, to the best of my research, to have played a character on Bewitched with his own first name.
cperrynaples daDoctah 2 months ago
Yep, many times actresses who get top billing above the main actor use their real name! Surprized it wasn't Elizabeth Stephens but Samantha! Fun Fact: In Season 6, the title changed from "Bewitched starring Elizabeth Montgomery" to "Elizabeth Montgomery in Bewitched"!
