Although Ted Lange made a name for himself as Isaac Washington on the hit comedy series, The Love Boat, the actor also excelled at more dramatic works. During an interview with the Johnson City Press, Lange revealed that he frequently enjoyed writing poetry. "It's immediate, and I like that," said Lange. "I find it very relaxing."

Lange wasn't just a television actor; he also had various interests behind the camera and frequently enjoyed writing for the theatre when he wasn't working.

Lange referred to himself as a "Shakespearean actor who also directs and writes." The actor also said that he rarely felt discouraged during his journey as an actor, which he credits to his parents, who were deeply supportive of his performance dreams.

"When I began to express an interest in drama, my parents never said 'No' to me, which meant a lot," said the actor."

While comedies are often sold short by many television critics, Lange believed that a character like Isaac Washington would be an incredible opportunity to inspire viewers, especially young children.

"The industry is always changing, and so are the people in it," said Lange.

"You can try and be the noblest guy in the world, but if you can't act, you won't get your message across," said Lange. "Black kids see me on television, and it reinforces the fact that they have the ability to be funny and to be a professional actor."
