Anson Williams had his big television break when he was cast as Potsie Williams in the popular sitcom, Happy Days. Williams remained on the series through thick and thin, when other actors departed the series for greener pastures.

When Ron Howard and Donny Most abandoned their status as regular characters, Williams acknowledged that he wasn’t as sure-footed as he used to be. “I feel naked with Donny Most and Ron Howard leaving the show,” said Williams during an interview with the Abilene Reporter-News. “I don’t know how they plan to explain their absence, because I haven’t seen any scripts for the new season.”

However, Williams was no spring chicken; he understood that in order to succeed in the entertainment industry, a performer needed to diversify themselves. Williams took an interest in producing, working on projects like the television movie Skyward (1980).

According to the article, Williams admitted that producing was plenty of hard work with little to no reward. “My producing career, so far, is all money going out, but nothing coming in,” said the actor.

Despite this, Williams developed a love for producing that exceeded even his passion as a performer. “I like producing better than anything,” said Williams. “I think that my future will probably be 80 percent producing, 20 percent performing as a singer and entertaining.”

The actor later worked as a director for various popular shows, including Beverly Hills, 90210 and Star Trek: Voyager.
