Can you match these camels to the right show?

These desert dwellers stood in for horses in more than a few Westerns and even made an invisible “appearance” in one memorable sitcom episode.

When it comes to animals commonly seen on TV, camels might not be the first ones that come to mind. But make no mistake, the humped steeds of the desert appeared in plenty of classic shows. Most often seen in Westerns, they came in handy when cowboys and gunslingers needed to travel long distances in hot, sandy conditions.

Here are ten camels seen in shows from the Sixties and Seventies. Can you match each one to the right series?

Movie Quiz 6-10-2022

Tonight we have a wonderful movie. This movie was put together with a lot of thought, drama, and human desire. You might say it is a little bit of fantasy but what we all wish for. The actors are top notch and have been around from mostly 25-50 years ago and still performing today somewhat. Many involved in all type of movies and TV shows. This movie is no more then 25 years ago but not in the in the past 10. That would mean of course 1995 to 2011. The top actor has been such a star for many a year. Making many dramas, thrillers, mysteries. This movie is Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi type. Thoughts and memories go back to their childhood but end up in present day settings. The opening of the movie is not the normal everyday movie settings. It will also leave you in many thoughts through-out. There will be times you will squirm, laugh, fret and danger ahead. Wonderment might be a better phrase. I believe everyone has seen this some time or another. So guess away because there are no wrong answers, just not the right one or a Bingo!
This one may go down fast but if not I will attempt to clue the clueless.....

This and others from movie Trivia- During a Q&A at the TCM Film Fest in 2015, Shirley Maclaine had this to say about Clint Eastwood: "Quite brilliant, and funny, because he's so laconic and doesn't know it. I adore him. I remember when we were doing Two Mules for Sister Sara, his horse was acting up. This is when I knew he's a true Republican. He got off the horse, looked at the horse, and socked him.".

Movie Quiz Midweek update. Coming to your screen soon this Friday and weekend.

I thought long and hard on your Saturday Special Movie. While of course I changed my mind a half dozen times. Was it going to be a hit horror movie, musical, drama, mystery? I wanted to be a hit when it came out. This one is number 74 on the Top 250 movies. Which means after I checked how many movies there actually are which boggles ones mind. The figure from 1888-2017 was around 288,000 movies. This does not include TV shows and such. I can say this without a doubt that our Saturday movie will be a smash. Most have already seen it. It leaves an impression for sure. When watching it again take in what meaning it gives you about the past and such transgressions. Most countries have gone through this type of thing where leaders attempt to control others anyway they seem fit.

*****Braveheart***** (1995) Rating 8.4. Biography--Drama--History-

Monday's Main Movie- Saving Private Ryan- I know some do not like war-This movie will bring out the best and the worst of the human species. It will also bring out the best in the actor known as Tom Hanks. Leader of a group of men who need to do a job called out by their superiors. It's never easy especially during a raging battle for survival. We find out just what we are made of. You will have ups and downs watching this. You will find out what Captain Miller (Tom Hanks) is made of. He will do it the right way just when things look dismal. One of the highest ratings for a film.

Okay here's a contribution, for MFU fans only! Regarding the "Arabian Affair" how are these heroes travelling across the desert?

1. Standing in a Jeep

2. Camels

3. Something else (bonus points for naming it)!

The answer will be an image provided later on, no cheating!!

On my Guide, about split. I never liked the one about Wally's "Pug" nose. I know it was a life-lesson, but didn't see the humor in it. Kid's self-consciousness and bullying, are significant issues for children.

From the ComiCon interview JM repeated what most fans know, about being the first series featuring the toilet, which was actually only the tank. And that he liked the episodes with the character-actors, and animals, because they were fun! He said, he and TD were allowed to play basketball on the lot, having less chance to mess their clothes. The costumer never liked them kneeling. And that he had 5 of the same clothing, so that a mishap never held up production. Adults usually have 2 sets. He found it interesting to be the little brother of Wally, while he was the oldest in his large family. But was never treated specially. He also said there was a huge casting call for all the LITB actors, over 800 between NY, Chicago and California. And that he got the role, because he seemed to be the most natural of the children.

You've probably watched the interview, so am putting the tidbits here for others to come across in anticipation of the Block Party. How cool they've chosen LITB for Father's Day!!

Absolutely!! While I have Cheers and Fraiser pretty much memorized, before the days of MeTV, when I only had Hallmark. Many episodes are really funny, especially the first time. Love the chemistry of ensemble acting! Hoping MeTV has started its own trend, changing it up on Sunday afternoons, with solid comedy. Maybe... no more complaints!

By the way, JM also mentioned that the order of showing episodes occasionally differed from production, because network wanted to fun certain episodes according to demand (I think they meant Network Sweeps which used to happen twice a year). Of course holiday episodes were obvious, and LITB was able to write its finale mainly because everyone had agreed to the six year contract, and was comfortable with ending the show. JM had no trouble transitioning to public school, because he started HS along with other freshman. And joined the Football team, who only treated him as a fellow jock. But JM seems to be the epitome of well-adjusted anyway you cut it. Mainly, he was grateful for his stellar education, being taught to focus on every subject, completing his assignments free of any excuses. He also graduated from Berkeley in Philosophy, because he enjoyed the viewpoints of so many people! (There's a hint!)

I have a great affinity for camels of any type or form, in any show, zoo, or desert. I wonder about the outtakes on these shows. Did the camels cooperate? Dennis Weaver actually had to ride that camel. Was there an interesting outtake? Frank Gorshin has that look on his face, I'm sure he's thinking, "Please don't spit!" Camels are interesting.
Pacificsun ELEANOR 22 months ago
Outtakes are fun! I wish MeTV could get their hands on some, or at least the candid shots of some beastly revolts!!

However, no animal is allowed on set without it's handler closely tethered. Usually just out of camera shot. Particularly with a Camel or a Bear. The Bears and Tigers usually have a fine chain, and the handler is behind a tree. Fun to watch!!
LoveMETV22 Pacificsun 22 months ago
That would be interesting if MeTV could get such outtakes. However while we're waiting, thought you might enjoy these outtakes from animal expert, Will Ferrell.
