Bullies — they're a rite of passage we all must face at some point. No wonder these scrappy characters are such regulars on sitcoms with children. Every family sitcom at some point dealt with the issue, typically in a "very special episode."

A bully plot offered the parents a moment to shine. We saw a mother give her boy boxing lessons. We saw a father take his son fishing and explain how he overcame his own tormentor as a boy. In other cases, the young main characters summoned their own courage to confront the school bully.
