Can you identify the top TV shows of 1989 from one image?

Recognize these Top 20 hits from the opening credits alone?

Sitcoms ruled in 1989. Out of the Top 20 shows on television, a dozen of them were comedies. A couple of them (Chicken Soup, Grand) are pretty obscure these days, but we bet you know the rest of them. Elsewhere on the dial, lawyers and cops entertained us with their cases.

Below, you will find images from the opening credits of 1989's most popular TV shows. They all pulled in more than 15 million viewers according to the Nielsen ratings and ranked in the Top 20. See if you can name them. Good luck!

I only got #6 wrong, which is understandable as I completely despise "Golden Girls" and never watch it.

Awesome! When it comes to 1989, you're a bigger deal than Paula Abdul.

Pretty challenging

This commenting system truly sucks. A fine example of fixing something that wasn't broken.

I agree with you 100%!! There was nothing wrong with the old system. You could edit your comments, with this one you can't.

11/11.

But it would have been a *real* challenge if you hadn't printed who owns what image under most of the photos (e.g. Disney-ABC gave away "Golden Girls" a bit, although I did recognize the airplane in the sunset. And, I wasn't sure about "Dear John" until I saw the CBS Television Distribution credit under the photo; Paramount Television originally produced that show, and Paramount Television has since been folded into CBS Television Studios. Likewise for "Roseanne" until I saw Carsey-Werner under the photo).
