Luci Arnaz shared this beautiful tribute to her parents to celebrate I Love Lucy's 75th anniversary
"I could not be more proud to be a part of this family," said Arnaz.
If you’re a fan of nostalgic television, you’re probably well aware that the iconic series I Love Lucy recently celebrated an enormous milestone. This October marked 75 years since the series aired its first episode.
Though series stars Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz have both passed away, their daughter Luci Arnaz made sure to celebrate the iconic achievement.
Arnaz shared an interview with I Love Lucy writers Bob Carroll Jr. and Madelyn Pugh Davis. In it, Davis called Ball a “genius” and said that Desi Arnaz was “an amazing man.”
“He never said, ‘Are you crazy? Or, ‘Oh, that sounds expensive,’” said Davis. “He would pick up the phone and say, ‘Let me call the guys.’ And he would call the prop department, he would call the special effects.”
Carroll summarized the couple’s dynamic, “He [Desi] would pay for anything, and she [Lucy] would do anything.”
Luci Arnaz believed these comments exemplified the eternal success of I Love Lucy.
“This sums it up best for WHY the show has lasted 75 years,” wrote Arnaz. “THE WRITING, The guy who says YES to those writers ideas and the genius of the lady who could pull those brilliant ideas off.
I raise my glass to that fantastic team of Bob Carroll, Jr., Madelyn Pugh Martin Davis, Jess Oppenheimer and my mother and father, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. I could not be more proud to be a part of this family.”
