How well do you know the multi-platinum band KANSAS?

They've been rocking for fifty years — can you Carry On, or will your score be Dust in the Wind?

1973 was a big year for pop culture. American Graffiti with Ron Howard was a hit in theaters. The novel The Princess Bride by William Goldman hit shelves, teaching us all that "as you wish" meant "I love you". President Nixon gave his famous "I am not a crook" speech. And a new band from Kansas emerged.

The band — fitting called KANSAS — would go on to be such a massive influence in the music industry that today, fifty years later, we're still humming along to their songs.... or belting them at kareoke.

How well do you know these iconic rockers?

  1. Which classic song was originally just a finger picking exercise until Kerry Livgren's wife encouraged him to make it a song?
  2. What Will Ferrell movie DOESN'T feature a KANSAS song?
  3. What famous scientist is the subject of the song "Portrait (He Knew)" off of the album Point of Know Return?
  4. What '80s movie contains the KANSAS reference "All we are is dust in the wind, dude."
  5. What fantasy drama TV fandom adopted "Carry On Wayward Son" as the unofficial theme song for the television series?
  6. What song, off the album Point of Know Return, is based on Howard Hughes?
  7. What city in Kansas is the band from?
  8. What historical figure is the subject of the painting on KANSAS' self-titled debut album?
  9. What DC movie features the KANSAS song "Point of Know Return"?
  10. What popular cartoonist named a character after a KANSAS song?
  11. What KANSAS album famously shows a ship sailing off the edge of the world?
  12. What was the title of KANSAS' 2015 documentary?

Nine out of twelve--pretty good for only having heard Dust In The Wind and Carry On Wayward Son. 🎵I closed my eyes only for a moment and the moment's gone...🎶

I wonder if we can get S. E. Hinton (the author of "The Outsiders" and "Rumble Fish") to take this quiz? After all, she's the biggest "Supernatural" fan out there.

10/12 Lucky guess on the DC movie since I haven't seen any of them.
You don't know what you're missing! (And probably should be glad of that...)
