Plenty a good song has been popularized by a cover, but how often do you prefer another artist's rendition of a classic tune? We're asking some tough questions in this poll! We'll give you a popular song, as well as a well-loved cover, and you tell us which version is better!

  1. "Hound Dog" was originally recorded by Big Mama Thornton in 1952, but was later covered by Elvis Presley in 1956.
  2. The Beatles originally recorded the song "Let It Be," as the title track off their album of the same name. It was later recorded by country singer John Denver.
  3. The song Pinball Wizard was released by English band The Who in 1969. It was later covered by Elton John for the 1975 musical film, Tommy.
  4. The 1968 Dusty Springfield song "Son of a Preacher Man" was later covered by singer Aretha Franklin.
  5. Originally recorded in 1973 by Dolly Parton, the song "I Will Always Love You" was later covered by Whitney Houston for the 1992 film, The Bodyguard.
  6. Leonard Cohen originally recorded "Hallelujah," which was released in 1984. In 1994, Jeff Buckley released a cover of the song.
  7. After being recorded by Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin released a rearranged version of the song "Respect" in 1967.
  8. Bob Dylan originally recorded the song "All Along the Watchtower" for his album John Wesley Harding. The song was later covered by the Jimi Hendrix Experience.
  9. Originally recorded by Gloria Jones in 1964, the song "Tainted Love" was famously covered by eighties band Soft Cell.
  10. David Bowie released the song "The Man Who Sold the World" in the early 1970s. The song was later covered by popular grunge band, Nirvana.
  11. Originally released in 1934 in the movie ''Dames'', The Flamingoes covered the song "I Only Have Eyes For You" in 1959.
