While this is not my all-time favorite Christmas movie, it definitely ranks among my top 5 (my all-time favorite is "Miracle on 34th Street" from 1947, not the soulless remake of the 1990's). I watched this as a child on the old Late Late Show (during the summer, I was always allowed to stay up as late as I wanted) and remember thinking at the time that it would make a great Christmas movie (remember that I saw it during the middle of summer). This was before the movie became an open-market film and was played over and over and over again in the 1980's (?). It became a running joke with the late-night comedians over who could spot the first showing of it when December rolled around. Sometimes, you could even see it on two separate channels at the same time (though the start times were usually a little different on each channel)! I am not certain but I believe that it was Ted Turner who saved it from being so over-played and why it now only shows up as an annual Christmas film. I am certain that I don't have all the details correct here.
10/10. I'm not sure about this being my favorite, but it sure is among 'em. There's so many that I like as much as the other.... just to name a few, I submit Shenandoah, Flight of the Phoenix, The Shootist, Winchester 74, Man who shot Liberty Valence and a ton of others. I miss seeing him in the movies so much. I see this movie yearly....sometimes 4 times a year!
Another good Jimmy Stewart movie is the comedy Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation.
Besides Stewart, I loved Maureen O-Hara. When this was on TCM, I only got to watch the first several minutes and had forgotten about it.
Googled and it seems great. THANKS for reminding us about it. I will at least dvr it next time it's on in case my live viewing is interrupted again

You're very welcome, frances3agape! Fun movie! I would have liked to have seen this movie at a drive-in when I was a kid but only seen it on the tv. Laurie Peters who plays Mr. Hobbs' daughter Katey was married to Jon Voight in the 1960s.
Well, well, well I um I seem to have done pretty good that time. Now, if there’s time, I’d like to read a poem that I wrote.
10/10 I'm very happy to help any angel get their wings. It's my favorite christmas movie and I'll win every time with a quiz regarding it.
You got 10 out of 10- You helped an angel get his wings today! Well done! Full disclosure, I just watched this last night, and will hopefully watch it again before Christmas. But honestly, I would have got 10 out of 10 anyway. I practically know the movie by heart. "How would you like to..." "Yes!!".
This was quite interesting. It's been a long time since I watched that movie, so I was totally guessing.
