Our mammoth month-long celebration of 'The Andy Griffith Show' runs May 2-28. See the complete schedule.
Otis has been writing letters to his brother and sister-in-law for some time on courthouse stationary. Because of this, they have come to believe that he is a deputy, something they expect to see on their upcoming visit.
While walking through the woods, Opie meets Mr. McBeevee, a man who, Opie claims, "lives in the trees" and "jingles when he walks." Andy eventually learns that Opie's new friend works for the telephone company.
Gomer gets Duke to perform his comedy act at a nightclub's amateur show. His act goes over well, especially his routine about Sgt. Carter.
Andy has begun seeing Peggy McMillan and he discovers she is from a wealthy family. The differences in their upbringings and education unsettle Andy, and he begins to doubt the ability of the relationship to endure.
Andy and the new mayor are not on the same page in terms of Andy's style of managing Mayberry's sheriff's department.
Gomer wins a vacation for two to Las Vegas and Sgt. Carter joins him. Gomer doesn't want to gamble as much as he wants to see the sights, but the sergeant is committed to gaming.
Andy and Opie are left alone while Aunt Bee goes out of town. Peggy, Andy's new girlfriend, takes great delight in helping the boys handle things. Floyd warns Andy that Peggy is using her feminine wiles to "snare" him.
