Tonight on MeTV- we bring you one of the first films of Boris Karloff’s last ten years in movies- one that returns him to his horror film roots, as he finally portrays a member of the Frankenstein family itself- and keeps the family traditions going in a sinister manner! Set in the future (well- what would be the future for a film released in 1958)-it mixes television and terror when the calendar reads-“Frankenstein 1970”!

As the last remaining member of the Frankenstein family, Baron Victor Von Frankenstein, a survivor of Nazi tyranny which has left him disfigured, has used up the last of his family’s fortune to fund his experiments- but he has more work to be done. The only way to raise the money for what he needs (the list includes a nuclear reactor!?) is to allow a television crew to shoot in the family castle in Germany, though he dislikes most of them intently.

Among the crew working there to commemorate the anniversary of the creation of the Monster is brash director Doug Rowe, his script-girl (and one of his ex-wives!) Judy, and blonde starlet Carolyn, along with cameraman Morgan and publicity flack Mike Shaw. The Baron only has interest in the young actress, but tolerates the rest to get the money he desperately needs.

Also in the castle- a local named Hans who is being used to play the Monster, the Baron’s financial adviser Gottfried, and butler Shuter. None of them are aware that, in a hidden area of the castle catacombs, the Baron is following in his ancestor’s footsteps and attempting to create a living man! He has been using body parts procured from the local morgue, but, with his funds diminished, needs to find new “raw materials”. Could the visiting crew be the perfect source for some spare parts?

That may well be the case, as people become missing persons-and the Baron ends up having to use his still uncompleted creature to further his unholy work!

We’ll tell you about the background of this film, including its various possible titles, and run down the cast list which includes a couple actors with unique connections.
