Tonight’s "BOO-nanza" double feature involves alien take-overs in both movies- one through some perilous pods, and the other from large-forehead potential conquerors! It’s the thrilling combination of the original "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" and "This Island Earth"!

First up- we arrive at a hospital where a psychiatrist, Dr. Hill, has been summoned to see a supposedly deranged patient, the frantic Miles Bennell (also a doctor) who is in custody and keeps warning them about something bizarre. They finally get him calm enough to tell his story- which begins in the small town of Santa Mira.

Miles has encountered several people who claim that relatives are not the same person- and may be identical-looking imposters! Miles dismisses this as some kind of mass hysteria-

Miles meets up with an ex-girlfriend Becky, who has returned home after a divorce- and it looks like the two of them will rekindle their romance. They visit a friend who tells them a relative of hers can’t possibly be the real person- and they have some suspicions in view of the other cases they have encountered. Things get more unsettling when they are called to a couple’s house -where a body has appeared with no faces or fingerprints! The body soon develops some very familiar features- and more cases of duplicates appear- with the discovery of giant seed pods from which copies of humans emerge! Miles and Becky find themselves hiding from the duplicates, not knowing who to trust- are they real or a copy ?- and try to warn whoever will listen that this weird invasion is happening- as amazing as it sounds!

This is the original 1956 version of this film, starring Kevin McCarthy as Miles- anyone who has seen this film knows the scene with him standing in the middle of a busy road, trying to get somebody to believe the truth. We’ll talk about him, and other cast members including some familiar faces-have Boddy Sorrell pose some "Body-Snatching Bafflers"-get an invitation to a restaurant prominent in the film- deal with Nostalgiaferatoo and the Imp investigating if I’m really myself- and see previously unbroadcast footage from our visits to the C2E2 comics and entertainment convention. We’ll bring you a new song- and more!

Right after that- the Sven Squad takes over with their take of a science fiction classic that I have previously shown- "This Island Earth"! This 1955 film begins with a strange green ray saving a disabled aircraft- and its pilot, atomic scientist Cal Meacham getting some electronic parts that are unbelievably advanced- and like nothing ever seen before! Then comes a mysterious set of plans to build a communication device- that picks up a message that Cal is requested to join an elite scientific group.

He is whisked by a pilotless aircraft to a remote compound where a group of specialized atomic scientists have been brought together. A former girlfriend and another scientist reveal to Cal that they are constantly being observed – and that they should try to escape. The end result is Cal and old flame Ruth being captured and sent, via a flying saucer, to the planet Metaluna- where they learn of alien plans to take over the earth- while dealing with a civil war and bizarre Metaluna mutants!

Gwengoolie, Nostalgiaferatoo, and Ignatius Malvolio Prankenstein (the Imp) host this famed 50s sci fi film featuring Rex Reason, Faith Domergue, and "Gilligan’s Island" star Russell Johnson. Needless to say, they are ready to explain what’s going on in their own inimitable style!
