Marius Constant, composer of The Twilight Zone theme song, called himself ''the most popular unknown composer in America.''
Here's how one song captured audiences everywhere.

Would The Twilight Zone have been as memorable without its iconic theme song? Known across the world, the song conveys peculiarity and terror in mere moments, all without singing a single word. Sure, there are many reasons why The Twilight Zone sticks in the memory of viewers everywhere. But the theme song remains one of the most iconic of all time.
The actual song was created by French composer and conductor Marius Constant. Besides the television theme, Constant was primarily known for his compositions used in the ballet.
During an interview with the Dallas Morning News, Constant called himself “the most popular unknown composer in America.”
Constant discussed being approached to pen the theme song to the series, which, at the time, seemed rather unmonumental. “I received a phone call from a producer,” said Constant. “He said, ‘We’re doing this TV show, and I’ll give you $200 to write a theme by tomorrow. If your work is accepted, you’ll make another $500.” In accepting the money, Constant said that he felt he had achieved a newfound level of success. He said he felt he “was as good as Stravinsky.”
Of course, no one had any idea how successful the series would become, least of all Constant. But with The Twilight Zone, the composer’s music was able to live on forever.
