Christmas in July??? Oh, give me a break. I'm so tired of Christmas. Especially, when they want us to think of it NOW. I'M NOT HAVING IT!! The shepherds were watching their flocks to guard the newborn lambs which were born in the Springtime. So Jesus Christ was not born in December, he was born some other time, probably in the Springtime. Christmas is just a Christianized Saturnalia festival, a festival that was an ancient Roman festival in honor of the god Saturn where among other customs, they exchanged gifts. So now we're supposed to start thinking about Christmas in July and what kind of really expensive gifts we're supposed to buy. Ha ha!!
I learned the date of Jesus' birth as being sometime in March. I went to an all girl catholic H.S. so of course religion courses were required ones. In one of them, I remember one of the Sister's mentioning that his "exact birthdate" as being March 3rd. I also just googled {as I was curious to find out if I remembered the "date" right.} that possibly when Mary gave birth to Jesus Joseph was 90, and that she was probably 12-14 years old when she gave birth. Scholars feel that she might [as was the tradition,] have gotten married at 12.
I agree, this whole Christmas in July is a joke. If METV wants to celebrate it that badly, why didn't they schedule the shows to air the 25th?!?! To me, this is kind of like it's still the baseball season, and now they are talking about football. They can't let one sport get "cold," [end,] before they talk about another. This may not be a good analogy. Oh well....
