Lauren Tewes on the similarities between herself and her character on The Love Boat

"There's a lot of me in her, but there's really none of her in me."

While we'd love to enjoy a cruise hosted by the characters of The Love Boat, we wouldn't necessarily want to live with them full-time. In that same vein, the actors portraying these characters were certainly appreciative of their roles; they were certainly willing to trade their own lives for something a bit more nautical.

Lauren Tewes loved playing Julie McCoy on the hit sitcom and worked diligently to make her appear to be a more lifelike character for audiences.

"I wanted to show that Julie can be a pretty woman and at the same time be efficient, sensible, helpful, and able to get her work done," said Tewes during an interview with The Kilgore News Herald. "I think maybe I've done that."

Although the two talented women shared more than a few similarities, Tewes was adamant that she and her character were not one and the same. "She's a lot more sensible than I am," said the actor. "There's a lot of me in her, but there's really none of her in me."

Tewes also confirmed that she enjoyed the life of an actor, and wouldn't be looking to earn her sea legs anytime soon like Julie McCoy.

"It's a wonderful job, but also an awful job because you have to work so hard," said Tewes when discussing her character's occupation. "Besides that, not many women are really allowed to do it."
