Jack Lord was ''not the least bit difficult'' to work with, according to Jack Albertson
Albertson called Lord "a professional actor."
As the series star, Jack Lord was undoubtedly the face of Hawaii Five-O. The series made Lord a star, and in return, Lord led the show to success. Hawaii Five-O ran for 12 years, with Lord at the helm every step of the way. Throughout the years, Lord expressed pride in his work. “Since that first season, we have had high-quality production with high-quality crews and first-rate actors,” Lord said during an interview with the Washington Post.
Lord had gained a reputation on set as a perfectionist, to put it gently. The actor frequently chafed against guest stars and writers, who struggled under his high expectations.
Still, there were some guests on the series who had nothing but kind words to say about the actor. Jack Albertson had previously worked with Lord. Albertson, best known for his role on the popular sitcom, Chico and the Man, argued that Lord was the picture of kindness.
“Jack is not the least bit difficult,” said Albertson. “He is a professional actor, and he owns part of the show. He doesn’t believe in wasting money. He arrives on the set early and thoroughly prepared. He’s ready to work. If you’re ready to work and know your lines, you have a wonderful time...I’ve read about those who had trouble, and all I can say is that they must have gone to Hawaii for a vacation. With Jack Lord, the vacation comes after the show has been finished.”
Moreover, Lord's efforts were not in vain; Hawaii Five-O was beloved by fans everywhere.
