While reboots typically have a bad rep, it's important to see the bright side of things. Reboots offer a chance to introduce a whole new audience to a nostalgic piece of content that older audiences grew up loving. Moreover, those who were childhood fans of certain characters now have the opportunity to relive those joys by participating in a reboot.

Rihanna already has an extensive resume, but we're ready to add another detail to that list: Smurf-enthusiast!

The singer will voice Smurfette in the upcoming animated Smurfs film. However, it turns out that the film isn't just an opportunity to show off her acting chops; like the rest of us, Rihanna grew up watching (and loving) The Smurfs!

“Having Rihanna on board was amazing," said the president of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation during an interview with Variety. "When we first met with her, we learned that the Smurfs were her favorite show growing up, and from that moment, everything just clicked. It felt completely natural to reimagine the Smurfs for today’s audience with Rihanna as Smurfette because her genuine love for the franchise made her the perfect fit,” says.

The film's director, Chris Miller, also revealed that Rihanna isn't just a fan of The Smurfs; she's a superfan.

"Rihanna knew way more [about the Smurfs] than I ever knew," said Miller during an interview with LIFE Magazine. "She knew every episode intimately."

The singer, herself a mother of two children, joked that the role may impress two very important future Smurfs fans. "I hope this gives me cool points with my kids one day," said Rihanna.
