The first season of The Waltons used a straightforward credit sequence showing each member of the cast looking on as John comes home with a brand-new radio. The family rallies around him as he carries the precious item from the truck to the porch.

Starting in season two, a more stylized opening was used. It featured nostalgic, aged photos meant to look like they taken in the 1930s showing each cast member and a few important places.
