Do you know who pulled these pranks on M*A*S*H?

At the 4077th, there were tricks only. No treats.

On Now
It’s time for pranks at the 4077th!
Up Next:

The 4077th was full of practical jokesters! Doctors, nurses and even commanding officers can be seen pulling pranks on their colleagues, but who pulled what prank?

We took some especially funny pranks from throughout the series to see if you could identify the person (or persons) who concocted the scheme. Some are relatively easy, while others may trip you up! Can you get them all right?

Watch M*A*S*H on MeTV!

Weeknights at 6 PM, Sundays at 7 PM

*available in most MeTV markets
  1. BJ concocted an elaborate scheme to trick Frank into jumping into his water filled air-raid shelter, but who did he get to yell ‘air raid’ and start the prank?
  2. This is a bit tricky, but who made Charles sit on a chair covered in glue?
  3. Who put a glob of oatmeal in Hawkeye’s boot?
  4. Who put minnows in Margaret’s uniform pockets on April Fool's Day?
  5. This one's pretty easy. Who shaves off half of BJ's moustache in a revenge prank?
  6. Who dumps a bucket of water on Hawkeye's head?
  7. Who fakes a heart attack to prank the 4077th?
  8. In that same episode, the officers of the 4077th conspire to dump a bucket of beer on someone, but who actually pulls the rope?
  9. Do we know who replaces Father Mulcahy's bathrobe with this lovely frock?
  10. Who wakes up Frank by throwing snow on his toes?
  11. Who ruins Margaret and Frank's date night with a trick candle, a broken cot and pudding in the pillow?
  12. Who steals Hawkeye and Trapper's bathrobes while they are in the shower?
  13. Uh oh, Hawkeye is once again without a bathrobe, but this time with BJ? Who stole their bathrobes this time?

Do you know who pulled these pranks on M*A*S*H?

12/13. You got me on the second one!

Number 2 is wrong. BJ switched the chairs, but Hawkeye was the one who made him sit in the chair, albeit mistakenly. Whoever wrote this got tripped up by their own "tricky" question.

Are you a prank master? You got 10 out of 13 - Wow! You must be a seasoned prankster! You'd get along swimmingly with the mischievous members of the 4077th! Not bad but I am still a little disappointed in my score. Oh well.

Mike Farrell's first wife Judy who played Nurse Able just died at 84.

I was trying to figure out who she was. She was in 8 episodes of MASH. RIP

best pranks of all - for me - Col Potter and Radar with the bi-nocs

Henry shaking the pipe flue in the swamp - dust in the yap - it was the one with things being stolen (but later in a different scene Hawkeye gets the pipe in the Edwina episode)

and I know they weren't in that episode of pranks

Not as good as I thought I would do. But the prank scenes were one of the best parts of MASH.

I still love the way Margaret says, "There's pudding in the pillow." Cracks me up just thinking about it.

As noted Boston surgeon Charles Emerson Winchester would put it, it's not "Trapper McIntyre," you impenetrable dolts, it's TRAPPER JOHN.
daDoctah Avie 12 months ago
No, it was John Francis McIntyre. Putting Trapper, Captain or Doctor in front of any part of that is a nickname and not subject to your constricting rules.

If you go by the nicknames the characters were originally given, you have to call Father Mulcahy "Dago Red".

12/13 - I don't remember ever seeing the snow on Frank's toes prank. There is a MASH trivia book that I have that has a section called "Prank Frank", which lists all the rotten things done to poor Frank each season. I'm sure it's listed there.

That was the episode where the army has Hawkeye listed as dead.
