Can you put these images from the M*A*S*H opening credits in chronological order?
Do we see the series title or the helicopters first?
As MeTV celebrates the 50th Anniversary of M*A*S*H, we want to take you back to the episode that started it all. The extended opening credits sequence from the pilot episode showcases what a typical day in Korea looked like for the 4077th.
From a couple of golf swings to playing catch and other extracurricular activities, the opening credits in the first episode of M*A*S*H has a lot of components to it, running two minutes and 35 seconds long! We hear some of the characters for the first time and see them rush towards the incoming helicopters.
Think back and take a close look at the images below and see if you can guess which of them came first in the pilot episode's opening credits!

8/10--third quiz today where I only missed two. By the way, who's that coming out of the shower in number 7?
Can you put all these stories and quizzes back into the archive please. We have been 𝓜𝓐𝓢𝓗𝓔𝓓 to death. Every single pun intended!!!
''You got 3 out of 10'' ----Looks like this score ended up in the mine field! ----Tee-up another quiz and take another swing! ----I got 1, 7 and 9 correct! Very poor for me.
a few more ads and there won't be any room for a quiz, metv is getting ridiculous with the ads.
Well, I haven't watched MASH lately but what I remember is the helicopter coming in and everyone running for it.
Those credits deserve special mention: If you watch a lot of MeTV, you are aware that for many years most shows opened with credits, a commercial and then Act I! What the producers did here is what is called a "cold open", where the story starts before the credits! Other shows did it earlier, most notably The Patty Duke Show & That Girl! What the creators did here was to introduce you to the 4077th right away! Strangely in the 250 succeeding episodes there were no cold opens: It was credits, commercial and Act I!
Correct. The pilot episode did the cold open credits to introduce the characters. That idea was scrapped for the regular series run.
I'll watch MASH tonight, and I'm already pretty sure it starts with the music and the helicopter, because they're running the credits in the order of billing. And no doubt during their (was it) 11 years, compensation/credit shifted among the talent. But, as I commented above, the credits we see now, came mostly from a single episode, not including the nurses (excluding Switt and of course a guest star) who remained as background players. What I was suggesting above, is that Production must've gone back to re-establish the credits based on the newer footage, some of what had to be around the time when BJ joined. And to delete the actors who left. Which is (only my hunch) a reason why a lot of sitcoms (Fraiser one of the best examples) use an opening that never has to be tweaked.
😎 Warning: I've already cited 𝙢𝙮𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 for going off topic!
Speaking of credits and titles, a fascinating one to watch is Mannix. Which shifted about 3 different times, which Gail Fisher's head-shot demonstrates (as her particular look evolved). Not only is the Mannix Title as unique as Dallas' is, but some of the images never appear in the episodes, except they must have in the Pilot. Which isn't reshown as part of the cycle.
Does anyone know if it's included in the DVD set? 𝙄𝙎 there even a DVD set?
Mannix has become my second favorite Show, both for entertainment and production value! Meaning all the more trivia available, is appreciated!!
😎 And I can answer this question for myself, as well. 𝑾𝒉𝒐 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒔?

Are you saying that the "Cold Open" applied to the episode where the journalist is interviewing all of them. And where they are supposedly doing them without a specific script. It would apply in that situation where they want the viewer invited into the atmosphere quickly.
But in the regular episode tonight, the credits started before the story.
