A MeTV Look Back at the Fourth of July, Old Style.
https://www.metv.com/stories/a-look-back-at-the-fourth-of-july-through-vintage-advertising
Although readers can be grateful for anything posted during a legal holiday week. No topic this year seemed pointed in the direction of a patriotic or even a traditional celebration. Which seemed odd. It should be considered that at least old fashioned food, annoying fireworks, picnic and fairground funtastics would bring people together. But at least we can go down memory lane. This MeTV story happens to be an ancient throwback to 2017. If anyone can remember that long ago. Though my hunch is that even it’s been retooled from an earlier offering. Many of the ideas and examples are in salute (pun intended) of the Archive of Regrettable Food Creations. Where artistry was celebrated through the versatile use of Hot Dogs and colorful Condiments. And don't forget the festive commercial advertising which seemed to be an excuse unto itself. Truly, no time or imagination was being wasted in the name of enthusiasm. The reality is, there must not have been a lot to do back then, either. Am guessing according to the quaint imagery, the times spoke to the golden ages of the Fifties and Sixties. Notice how the magic seemed real enough anyway, in spite of an absence of social media. I wonder if it was an effective means of people minding their business. In any event, and most certainly the high point of summer peaked with Fourth of July. Descending slowly back towards school, and (ugh) the holidays. The memories were brief, warm, cordial, happy and exciting. Perhaps it’s passé to admit how simple pleasures almost seemed to be too good to be true. And so I hope for the readers here, they are for this holiday as well. Safe, sane and sincere. Treasure your friends, families and memories! In Celebration of the Fourth of July 2023! Cheers!!
"You got 12 out 13. You burned right through that! Hopefully you were wearing sunscreen."
Missed the last question as I have never seen an episode of CHiPs, Wonder Woman or
