Cool trivia. Thanks! This is one of my favorite westerns. 🤠 And yes, I do have this movie. 🐎

I found a different one from the one before. Used it because I think it highlights the start and movie better. It's just so good.

Great trivia! I heard John Ford would rant and rave at everyone and get them all upset, but for some reason it never bothered Ward Bond.

Did you read the story about John Wayne helping the little Indian girl when she got sick and had her flown out on his plane? I understand though that complaining by some what happened in a movie some almost 70 years ago about how they treated the Indian woman in the movie. It's a movie for CS's. There's been a thousand top movies that were worse then that to others on screen. Plus the fact it is not changing what happened so long ago. Worry about today and tomorrow not what was in a movie that everyone has passed away. I would say to them don't watch movies then. Most are fiction anyway and made for viewing but might not be for everyone.

People are always up in arms about something from years ago. I watched a movie last year and before it started it had a disclaimer about something. It was something to do with how someone was portrayed or circumstances or whatever. When the movie ended couldn’t figure out what I was supposed to be offended by. I wish I could remember what movie it was. The other day I was watching a tick-took video of a white guy wearing a sombrero, fake moustache and a poncho. He asked various people if it was offensive and they all said yes. He then went to an area with Mexicans and not one was offended.

How about Al Jolson who sang My Mammy on stage and became one of the biggest stars back in the 1920's. Died before most of us were born in 1950. Wait another 60 years and people get up in arms over it. It was done, it's over and not changing. Just like a few who get on John Wayne's case after he passed on. He might have done a few things that others might not like but he also had a heart of gold as seen in the trivia about the little girl. No one is perfect. Neither is the world we all live in. If you remember the movie let me know. A lot of movies were controversial to some. Even myself then I watched it and really liked it. It's a movie. Tomorrow's movie will be that type. It's a great movie and really funny. I found it but didn't like the copy and found it in a better resolution just 2 days ago. Then decided to split the movies up into certain days and genres. Take a guess what movie it might be. I will be posting it late tonight for tomorrow.

I wish I had seen this earlier. Some people didn’t like The Producers back in the day. Some old b&w comedies from the 30s and 40s are criticized for having black maids, Chinese cooks, etc. Charlie Chan movies with a white guy playing Chan. The Women with Norma Shearer has been criticized for having women wanting to get married or some are catty. Apparently now you can’t have skinny person put on a fat suit and whatnot (The Whale). I think people find too much to complain about from movies 60 - 70 years ago.

It was cut to about 2.30 hrs for the Theater/TV. The 4 hours represented all the producers wanted to "tell the story." But I don't remember it being that long inside the theaters. And few productions on television show for 4 hours anymore. Unless mini-series are presented in 1 hr. installments over time.

It's definitely a period piece, not at all to everyone's taste. But it is a stamp in history, with a ton of interesting trivia. Original resolution (of course) was perfect. Not sure what people got a hold of to upload to where they do.

Well you well get the best of, hopefully. Kick start with Elmer Gantry then tomorrow you get the comedy which I have carefully selected. If you have not seen it you won't soon forget. Was going to do Francis in The Haunted house. Francis is a mule you know. Just one of those old comedies that one watched for a chuckle. Then started thinking (yeah I know there I go thinking again). We'll start the comedy off with a bang instead. It's 10 times funnier then ole Francis The Mule. You may or may not have seen it. It came out in the 90's. With a couple of big time actors plus a comedian. Trust me it's funny. I sort of dread the first time I was going to watch it but it has not only a theme to it but a good and funny storyline. So the mule got kicked out and we enter XXX XXXXXXXX instead.

.....How on EARTH did I miss so many?
mashby2020 12 months ago
Ultimate classic is "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (1951 Version). A very "Cold War" mood to the film, with a deep message for humanity. If mankind does not work together for a peaceful existence, we will be eliminated to save other planets from our violent destiny. I was surprised when I realized Robert Wise directed both "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and "The Sound of Music" after enjoying both films for years.

Although the George Pal classic, "When Worlds Collide" is not a movie with Earth in the title but is all about the impending destruction of the Earth. Not by aliens, but by another planet on a collision course with Earth. Great story and special effects for it's day.
