8 TV workplaces we wish would hire us

Where can we find an application?

TV is the best form of escapism. You can turn it on, sit back, and forget about your troubles for an hour or two.

That's why it's so fun to watch other workplaces on TV. You can fantasize about serving beers with Sam Malone at Cheers, or producing the news with Mary Richards. Yes, every place has its problems, but at the end of the day, everyone is there to support each other and make work more enjoyable.

1. Taxi

Where: Sunshine Cab Company - Manhattan, NY

Boss: Louie De Palma (Danny DeVito)

Why we want to work there: Because you'll have some amazing coworkers who can relate to your struggles. You all see this as a temporary job, and dream about someday realizing your dreams.

2. Cheers

Where: Cheers - Boston, MA

Boss: Sam Malone (Ted Danson)

Why we want to work there: Because everybody knows your name. It's an easygoing environment where you get to socialize, occasionally drink on the job, and make great memories.

3. The Love Boat

Where: The Pacific Princess

Boss: Captain Merrill Stubing (Gavin MacLeod)

Why we want to work there: Because romance is always on the horizon. New passengers every week make the job feel fresh and exciting, too.

4. The Mary Tyler Moore Show

Where: WJM - Minneapolis, MN

Boss: Lou Grant (Ed Asner)

Why we want to work there:  Because the fast-paced world of TV news is the perfect place to start your career. The staff at WJM also provides constant entertainment, making even the most stressful job that much more enjoyable.

5. Star Trek

Where: USS Enterprise

Boss: Captain Kirk (William Shatner)

Why we want to work there: Because you get to explore outer space. The USS Enterprise isn't the typical office environment because it offers an experiential learning that can't be obtained at a normal 9 to 5.

6. WKRP in Cincinnati

Where: WKRP - Cincinnati, OH

Boss: Arthur Carlson (Gordon Jump)

Why we want to work there: Because you and your coworkers are all in this together. Everyone at WKRP is committed to making the struggling radio station a success.

7. Night Court

Where: Municipal Court - Manhattan, NY

Boss: Judge Harold T. Stone (Harry Anderson)

Why we want to work there: Because you get to see it all. Some wacky cases are presented during the night shift, making this job a lot more interesting. It's a lot less stressful than the day shift, we might add.

8. Barney Miller

Where: 12th Precinct Police Station - Greenwich Village, Manhattan, NY

Boss: Captain Barney Miller (Hal Linden)

Why we want to work there: Because you have a wonderful boss. We all want a boss who's calm while dealing with problems like budget cuts and paperwork, and Barney Miller is just that.
