Betty White wasn't worried about The Golden Girls connecting with a younger audience
The actor understood that the series would entertain viewers everywhere, regardless of their age.
Of course, while the cast of The Golden Girls believed that their show was the best one on television, they were aware that they were somewhat subjective.
“Ours is not an objective opinion,” said Betty White, one of the show’s stars, during an interview with The Times. “We think everything about Golden Girls is good. There is wonderful chemistry between all of us. The writing for the show is consistently good. You’re always getting something better back…The show has a vast area of humor and sympathy, and the characters are nice people to be around."
White was proud of the stories told on The Golden Girls. Not only were they compelling plots, but they also reached an underserved audience of an older generation.

These women are in many families. There hasn’t been a show that concentrated on those problems of a certain woman over a certain age.”
Moreover, White wasn’t stressed over the series reaching a younger demographic.
“One simple thing will attract them,” said White of a younger fanbase. “We’re funny. If we’re not funny, they won’t hold still. They can identify with family members like these women. In fact, our studio audience has been quite wild and quite, quite young. I don’t know where they dig them up.”
