9/10 Vincent Price - a true genius! Gourmet cook (wrote several cookbooks), world class art expert & collector, and a vastly underrated actor who could do anything from Shakespeare to horror to comedy! He was truly one of a kind
As a kid, I left the room and refused to watch House of Wax—I was even terrified by the sound of the music. As an adult, I began building my classic movie library and added House of Wax—I had to because my Dad saw it at a theater in El Paso while stationed at Ft Bliss during the Korean War. One Saturday my 3 year old son chose House of Wax to watch—I tried to convince him to choose something else, but he refused. We got on the sofa in our favorite position with him laying on my back—I wanted to be ready to bury my face in the sofa if I couldn’t take it. I was worried about my son, but he THOROUGHLY ENJOYED the movie—so did I! At the end he yelled, “Again Mommy, again!” I knew House of Wax was a new favorite—we watched it 3 more times. Today, that son has a Master of Arts in Historical Preservation and counts Vincent Price among his top classic film actors. I guess the movie did not harm that 3 year old!
Sometimes our worst enemies are the fear of fear itself. Love horror/Sci-fi but have my phobias for a few. Some not watched for 20+ years after I saw it the first time. Probably The Exorcist and Alien. No problems with Classic ones like Frankenstein, Dracula and the lot. Even Halloween, Scream, Nightmare on Elm Street or Zombie flicks. I have most all of them 400 Horror/Sci-Fi listed films. Some I don't recommend like House of the 1000 Corpses. Then there's the Tarantino flicks I also have. Have all the Classic epics along with newer ones. Still have some fear over modern Clown movies after 1988 Killer Klowns From Outer Space (I liked that one and was kind of fun). Though IT and others like it I shy away from. I mean what happened to Clowns this past 40 years. 😬.
I love the classic, original horror flicks—Wolfman, Dracula, Mummy, Invisible Man, Vincent Price—where is The Haunted Palace, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing—why isn’t The Gorgon shown more?!? I watched The Exorcist just a couple of years ago and I still get creepy reverberations over it—never again. I won’t watch the Alien movies because all the drooling will make me barf!! And I love your name—I’m a Texas Native!
I probably have all of those movies except The Gorgon. In fact if I've seen it probably like eons ago. It's not a bad movie and rating better then average. In fact I am going to give you a movie. I have 3000 no kidding. This one is fun. 13 Ghosts (1960). On the scary scale maybe 2/10. Kids can watch it. Well young teens. The scariest is the start of the opening credits when they show these ghosts. Almost corny. I will place it in arrears of your MeTV postings. If you would after copying I will delete it. It's at IA (internet archive.) A direct link and movie starts. IA has just been hacked if you read on the news it has 31 million viewer logins. It just back up to day with read only. Means you can watch but not upload until they get it completely running again. Below is your poster for The Gorgon. I will send the movie in 20 min or so. Look for it. You will get a notice like this. It is not illegal and you may play or do whatever you wish with it. We have a Friday Night Movie quiz here 9 P.M. CT for the past 4 years. You know some of the ones. MrsPhilHarris, KJExpress and AWL AllisonWunderland. If you'd like to play you can too or just watch, conversation whatever one wishes. Details later.
This is very nice and considerate—that’s that Texas hospitality peeking through! Actually, I have over 2500 movies and I do have The Gorgon and the 1960 13 Ghosts. I enjoy this version 13 Ghosts because it tries really hard to be horror and mystery and as you observed, little kids should be able to watch it and not get scared. I don’t care for Martin Milner but in his role, it’s ok!
I like The Gorgon because I enjoy Peter Cushing in almost anything (although he made a few odd horror choices), and I like its connection to Medusa. I am a fan of 7 Faces of Dr Lao (Tony Randall is fantastic) and original Clash of Titans—both of which have Medusa. I was brought up on movies by both my movie-loving parents, and I raised my sons the same way. I forgot about the Friday Night Movie Quiz—I’ve seen it or read about it after the fact. I am interested in it. Again, thank you for the invite! One of my favorite B/W horror movies is Curse of the Demon. However, I prefer the British version, Night of the Demon. US cut minutes and changed the title before release—I think those minutes add to the weird and eerie nature of the movie!! Dana Andrews is the star and for a great Classic Star, he does a super job in a horror film!

They asked "Can you name the Vincent...." and I said no. I was half right. I actually got half of them correct. Talked myself out of a couple more. If I hadn't it would have been 7 of 10 and I would have made a liar out of myself. :)
8 / 10 A couple were out of the Blue guess's 🤔 They left out The Abominable Mr. Phibes ~🎶The War March of The Priests 🎶and Vincent as Vital Dutour, in The Song of Bernadette ✝️and of course The Fly

Too often, Vincent Price is forgotten from Song of Bernadette. And he’s so good at being evil and conniving against the future Saint!
Got half...mostly guessed. Mr. Price was an awesome guy - personally! Met his niece at a park we were camping at as family and we didn't know to believe her and then he showed up. Great story teller and has all of us kids in a spell and what a funny guy too! Parents loved him right with the kids. Sure do miss those days.....almost in tears thinking about it.
8/10 Can't believe I got House of Usher wrong. Never heard of the Baron of Arizona
Does Vincent Price have a movie about a doll coming to life to play with girl
