Rue McClanahan received plenty of fan mail regarding Blanche's wardrobe on The Golden Girls
"I get so much mail from people wanting to know where they can buy the clothes on The Golden Girls," said the actor.
You’ve probably wanted to steal a character’s wardrobe for yourself more than a few times while watching television, and The Golden Girls was certainly no exception to this rule. The series was full of fashionable ladies with their own sense of style.
Rue McClanahan, known for her suave and sophisticated character, Blanche Devereaux, certainly had an enviable wardrobe at her disposal. During an interview, McClanahan confessed that much of the clothes on the show were tailored to the actors. Though the laughs kept audiences returning to watch The Golden Girls, the clothing was certainly an added improvement.
“I get so much mail from people wanting to know where they can buy the clothes on The Golden Girls,” said McClanahan during an interview with the Herald-Times-Reporter. “But there’s no place you can get them because we buy them and then alter them so much to make them look good on me. We’re applying those principles to my clothes line.”
