An actor’s life is much like a revolving door. Plenty of co-stars pass in and out, and if you’re lucky, you just might enjoy the opportunity to work with them again someday.

Jeff Daniels was reunited with former co-star John Goodman while on the set of Arachnophobia (1990). Before the two starred in the Frank Marshall horror film, they had worked together briefly on a commercial.

“We’d done one commercial together in the ‘70s, some turkey commercial for Thanksgiving,” said Daniels during an interview with The Toronto Star. “We were two of five sons eating turkey. We sat down and said, ‘How are you doing after 15 years?’ It was a big change from running around New York, not making any money.”

Though their first acting experience together was brief, Daniels confirmed that he and Goodman had a blast on the set of Arachnophobia. “John and I had a lot of fun,” said the actor.

Daniels also revealed that he was first drawn to Arachnophobia precisely because it was a challenge. Daniels was drawn to projects that allowed him to grow as an actor.

“I loved the script,” said Daniels. “It’s a departure for me, but I like to take chances. I’ve made 14 movies now, and I’m starting to get a handle on how to use the camera. Some of the people I’ve worked with - Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson...I just sat on the set and stole from them. At age 19, I decided to become an actor. I saw Al Pacino in Dog Day Afternoon (1975) six times, and that’s what I wanted to achieve. I stop everything and study that man every time he makes a movie.”
