An apparently impossible robbery occurs in the safety deposit vault at a bank, and Ironside begins to unravel the details of the crime and its lone suspect. But the more he investigates the crime, the more his own life might be in danger.

The Chief is in the bank when it is robbed by a gang of three men who are at odds with each other from the start. Ironside coyly tries to pit the antagonistic men against each other, with the hopes of causing their self destruction.

The teenage son of a friend of Fran's appears to commit suicide, however the evidence seems to point in a number of different directions. Was it a murder made to look like suicide, or vice versa? The Chief has to unravel the story.

A packet of heroin goes missing, implicating Carl Reese and his partner Don Borden in a possible cover-up. When Borden is killed, the evidence begins to point firmly at Reese, and Ironside and the team must prove his innocence.

A robbery goes wrong and one of the thieves is killed, while another is arrested and a third manages to escape with the money. When the daughter of the arrested gang member is kidnapped, the ransom is the unrecovered money from the heist in the possession of the missing man.
