The track became the seventh top-ten hit off the album and became one of the bestselling singles of all time. The music video was the first music video to be inducted into the National Film Registry, and many regard it as one of the best music videos of all time.
Of course, when you want a dramatic voice for your spooky hit song, who else would you go to but Vincent Price? His monologue near the end, while sometimes edited down for radio, is one of the things that makes this song such a classic. The horror legend known for House of Wax, The Fly, The Tingler, and many, many other films nailed the spoken-word section in only two takes.

I love the song and the video but, maybe I should on YouTube and watch & listen to it again.
It is a classic for a reason and it not because of Michael's singing, but because of Vincent Price and the way he does his part. I don't think that anyone else could do it the way Vincent does.
