Gomer would have been like a lot of people, in the service because of the draft, and when discharged wanting to be like those around them. Amd it's all relative, except for the musicians and the commune people, most at Woodstock only had long hair relative to how short it had been a few years earlier. For almost fifty years, I've had longer hair than many at Woodstock.
