14 recipes you won't believe actually existed in the 1970s

People ate a lot of gelatin and shredded cabbage back in the day.

It's always hard to agree on what our favorite foods are. Some people love french fries, while other people can't stand the taste of potatoes. But if there's one thing we can all agree on, it's that some foods are better left in the past.

Case in point: Weight Watcher's recipe cards from 1974. A few years ago, writer Wendy McClure stumbled upon the completely unappetizing, yet deliciously hilarious, recipe cards while helping clean out her parent's basement. She promptly created The Amazing Mackerel Pudding Plan, a book that compiled all the most questionable recipes.

Get ready to see a lot of gelatin, shredded cabbage and dispair. So without further ado, here are the worst of the worst. Would you make any of these? Or better yet, do any of these ring a bell?

1. Chilled Celery Log

Any food that includes the word "log" is suspect, and this recipe is no exception.

2. Fish "Tacos"

The use of quotation marks around the word taco doesn't make this combination of shredded cabbage on a piece of toast any more authentic.

3. Fruit and Cheese Mold

Ingredients for this monstrosity include cottage cheese, diet soda, gelatin and lettuce.

4. Peach Melba

This cheetah is not included.

5. Marcy's "Enchilada"

Once again, Weight Watchers ruined a Mexican staple by putting quotation marks around the food it's supposed to resemble.

6. Rosy Perfection Salad

This salad may be rosy, but it's far from perfection. Come to think of it, it's not very rosy, either.

7. Perfect Pizza Lunch

It's a crime to associate the word "pizza" with this piece of toast.

8. Inspiration Soup

This recipe will probably inspire you to throw up. The matching candles are not included.

9. Frankfurter Spectacular

Do we ever want to find out what a pineapple wrapped in hot dogs actually tastes like? What about if we threw in some onions and carrots?

10. Crown Roast of Frankfurters

You'll need about 10 hot dogs to create this modern marvel. Once again, shredded cabbage is a worthy compliment to any meal.

11. Frozen Cheese Salad

Just because there is broccoli on this dish doesn't mean the pound of cheese is any healthier.

12. Snacks on a Stick

Coffee-flavored gelatin just doesn't sound that appealing, even on a hot summer day.

13. Liver Pâté en Masque

This liver-infused gelatin mold topped with gravy must be a joke, right?

14. Jellied Tomato Refresher

It's the Jell-O version of a Bloody Mary, without the kick or the flavor.
