His famous role as Otis inspired similar characters in the rest of his career

 CBS Television Distribution

If you've never seen Hal Smith's incredible resume, you should take a look! The actor contributed to many productions from television shows, movies and even voice acting for video games. We know him as Otis Campbell on The Andy Griffith Show, but Smith was more than the drunk man in Mayberry.

He played similar roles in many films, making people believe he was typecast. However, there were plenty of other times when the actor was not having a drink or making them. Can you find those films?

Guess which movies Hal Smith didn't play a drunk or bartender!

I can’t ever seem to log in although my user name and password are right. Anyway 7 out of 11 and I never, ever watched Green Acres!

I think Hal Smith and Sidney Miller would have been the most hilarious 2 drunks together in Mayberry jail!

Not to bad 8/10 since I guessed on all of them.

The answer to #5 is wrong. Hal Smith played a drunken man in a Santa Claus suit in The Apartment.

I agree. He played a drunk Santa.

6/10 not my best at all. Wish Hal would have teamed up with Foster Brooks in the Mayberry jail,
that would have been epic.

Didn’t take the quiz. The way the questions were worded made neither answer correct. With OR in the question the answers should have been DRUNK or BARTENDER

I noticed that right away, too. The wording of the questions and answers doesn't make sense.

Hal Smith was the mayor of Borrachio (drunk). He did get drunk toward the end of his scene.

7/10 - Followed the formula and had never heard of any of the movies.

2/10… But then I was guessing. Only heard of one of these movies listed…
Toughest quiz ever on here for me.

I don't know about Otis affecting the rest of smith's career. Dick Wilson (Mr Whipple) always played a drunk on Bewitched, but apart from the spinoff Tabitha, it didnt set any kind of permanent course thereafter

And 5 of the movies in the quiz pre-date TAGS. "Otis" didn't "inspire" roles as drunks (or bartenders!?).

9/10. Have a little snort, Otis.
